Our Senior Center is a very busy place. On any given day we have several different activities going on in just about every space in the building. One of our busiest areas is, of course, the kitchen. Out of our small kitchen, with a dedicated staff of 2 chefs and several volunteers, over 180 meals are prepared each day. That is a lot of wear and tear on equipment that was donated to our old facility 20 years ago and moved with us to our current location in 2006.

New Dishwasher Thanks to Three Square |
|
As equipment ages it starts to break down more frequently and require expensive repairs. Over time it seems that buying new equipment would make more sense, but it is not always an option as finances dictate much of what we can do. Once in a while, when you are doing valuable work and stay dedicated to your mission, good fortune finds you. It is with great appreciation to Three Square and the Lincy Foundation that SCBC announces we are the recipients of an Agency Capacity Enhancement (ACE) grant. This ACE grant will finance the replacement our old dishwasher and several other pieces of aged kitchen equipment. In addition to the kitchen equipment, we will also be purchasing several new transport bags for our Homebound Meal Program. This will ensure that the food we deliver to our housebound seniors stays hot, fresh and safe.
